6th June 2023 at Winchester with Lavinia Winch – Ladies Intimate Health

We will be joined by Lavinia Winch who is an Ambassador for the YES YES company.

Lavinia has been to our group many times before and is very knowledgeable and supportive to us all. She has helped many of our members to improve their quality of life post cancer treatment and/or menopause.

You may have gone through a natural menopause, or Chemotherapy may have put you into early menopause, and/or you may also be taking hormone blocker tablets such as Tamoxifen, Letrozole or Anastrazole – all of these scenarios will be depleting the oestrogen levels in our bodies and this can lead to vaginal dryness and sometimes, recurring urinary tract infections (UTIs).

This evening isn’t just about intimacy with our partner, it’s about understanding our bodies and helping us to overcome what can sometimes become, a very painful condition. You may not be suffering at the moment, but you will gain knowledge, awareness and above all, the confidence to approach your GP if you need to do so in the future – you don’t need to suffer in silence.

If you have any questions for Lavinia which you may not wish to ask on the night, please email us before Tuesday and we can ask anonymously on Tuesday evening, or simply bring your questions along on the night.

16th May 2023 at Chandlers Ford with Liz Morland – Reflexologist

At our meeting on 16th May at Chandlers Ford, we were joined by Liz Morland who is a local Reflexology Practitioner.

Liz talked us though how reflexology works and can be done on the feet aswell as on the hands. We were shown diagrams of how the parts of the body are represented by different areas on our hands and feet.

Liz then talked specifically about using Reflexology for Lymphatic Drainage (RLD). She explained how we can help to improve our Lymph flow around our bodies which is especially important if you have, or might develop, Lymphoedema after cancer surgery affecting the lymph nodes.  She did a quick demonstration on the feet of one of our group’s willing volunteers, who unfortunately lives with Lymphoedema in her arm which is very painful and requires daily massage to manage the symptoms.

We would like to thank Liz very much for her time and for sharing a little of her knowledge with us.

If you would like to contact Liz directly, her website is here.

2nd May 2023 at Winchester – Clare Clayden Lewis from Winchester Hospital Breast Care Unit.

On Tuesday 2nd May at Winchester, we welcomed Clare Clayden Lewis from the Winchester Hospital Breast Team who gave us updates about the Team. She was joined by Sylke Ulbricht who is a trainee ANP (Advanced Nurse Practitioner) at the Hospital.

Clare will be leaving the Team shortly and will be sorely missed by all of the patients in our group, past and present, and even those being treated at other hospitals. Clare has been coming to our Support Group every year to offer general advice and updates and we are really grateful for her support. We presented Clare with some beautiful flowers and a keepsake heart from the group as a thank you for all of her support over many years.
