On a cold evening in December, 16 members of the group arrived at Cotes Restaurant in Winchester for our Annual Christmas Dinner. We’d selected the Lunch / Early Evening Christmas Menu at Cotes as the food sounded amazing! And such good value too! We just hoped that it tasted as good as it sounded!

We started with crackers, party hats, jokes and small toys to play with, and a large Santa sack was soon filled with all of our Secret Santa presents – in all shapes and sizes – to be drawn out at random, later in the evening.  

We had pre-ordered our menu choices which came out quickly, and we definitely weren’t disappointed by the food! There were lots of clean plates and happy faces!

Salmon, Breton Chicken, Guinea Hen or Steak…….. ?

Chocolate Mousse, Tarte Au Citron, Pain Perdu (Bread and Butter Pudding) or Creme Caramel…. what a choice!!!!!

Once we were all stuffed full, the Secret Santa sack was passed around the table and everyone selected a present. What a lovely selection of presents – Chocolates, Shower gels, Xmas Pot Pourri, Fizz, Bath Petals, Make-up, Candles, books, to name a few.

Once the bill was settled, Taxi’s were called and for some of us walking back to the car park, “the man on the horse” statue looked beautiful with the twinkling tree lights behind, but we couldn’t help thinking that he must be awfully cold, sat on top of the horse, naked!. A lovely end, to a lovely evening of food, drink, chattering and laughter!
